@steve-dragoo

@kristina Hi Kristina – Sorry for the long delay but I could not get into the forums using FB. I am fine, my wife nursed me through a bad time last year and of course, this lovely disease is taking its progressive course. I am encouraged by a couple of posts that show we might be in for help once a couple of trials clear. We both got our […] View

    Hi Charlene,

    I thought a while about your important questions before I answer and don’t have many new thoughts to add to all of the great comments except a couple of things.

    While back in the USA in 2018/19, I tried putting off doing dishes but that meant I had to stand longer when I did do them which would give me a still…[Read more]

    Thanks Doug, I know there are several stages to grieving and IPF brings them all out.

    @wendy-dirks

    Hi Wendy,

    I know you wrote this a year ago but fatigue does come and go. I would say the most important thing you can do is anything and everything to avoid getting sick/er as the immune system is compromised.

    There are a good number of supplements that will help. D3 is much more than just a vitamin but do take it with K2. The…[Read more]

    @deborahprichard

    Hi Deborah,

    Check with your doctor for GERD.  Also, I hesitate to say this but Serrapeptase which is OTC has helped my mucus a lot the past 3+ years.  I hesitate because there are some big cautions so if you want more info please ask.

    Stay well,

    @linallbert

    Hi Linda,

    I would be if I was stateside but I only have meds/supplements for other ailments – and supplements for IPF.  Have a concentrator and looking at portables but hope to get stateside soon as I would try Esbriet.

    There are many things we can do to help mitigate some of the symptoms, however.

    Stay well,

    @loraleern

    Hi Lora,

    I don’t take Ofev so not sure of their requirements.  There are several high protein foods such as various types of beans (some are better than others), lentils (many recipes), and quinoa (also many recipes).  The last 2 are pretty easy on the stomach.  Hope that helps some.

    Stay well,

    Steve

    @irisr,

    Hi Iris,

    Does your father use/need a CPAP? If so hooking O2 through it may help, if it can handle his high O2 needs. Also, suggest going to a face mask for O2. I switch to that once in a while and that solves the problem temporarily anyway.

    Of course we are, Bev.  You should read some of the other forums regards how many times I have cautioned people when they take something new the impact it may or may not have.  That might help you, too.

    Hey Ben,

    I have taken Wei twice and it helped both times. I may order again when I know I am coming stateside. I’m a vet too.

    Hey Sam,

    There is another thread with some good info in it you might want to review. I forget the exact title and I started it.  I have taken WEI twice. The first time I need good improvement and stability actually took it 4 months but could have done just as well with 3.  The second time I was in a major battle/recovery from an a…[Read more]

    @linallbert

    Hi Linda,

    I have always eaten hot peppers with little effect before and after IPF(5 years now) I am not on any IPF meds (Ofev/Esbriet) but take omeprazole because it supposedly helps IPF scar tissue due to any acid reflux breathed in. There is an article about it on the forum someplace.

    Try looking at lentils, split peas, for a stew…[Read more]

    @bobgriffin

    Hey Bob,

    WEI helped me a lot the first time (2018) but not as much the second time. I  need to add I had an acute exacerbation Sep/Oct 2020 and started WEI in late Nov thru mid-January 2021. I believe it helped me heal faster because more than a year later I am still recovering.

    One must be cautious with any supplements because…[Read more]

    @juhi

    Hi Juli – NAC, serrapeptase, nattokinase – all need a word of caution. I’m not sure where you are located but the FDA in the US had many companies like Amazon pull NAC because people were using it to fight covid. But it does help a lot with IPF.

    With serra – it is measured in serrapeptase units (SU) and must never be taken anywhere close…[Read more]
