Hi Wesley,
We are similar with our self-care. I’m interested but I am in the Philippines (currently 12 ahead of EDT). Been on PF News over 4 years and previously talked about many subjects. Maybe later on you might want a speaker for example like Dr. Andy – an expert w class-4 laser, has IPF…

Yes – close except I cannot go out every day as I am in the Philippines and working USA hours so an upside-down schedule. We walk Fri, Sun, Mon mornings (cooler) usually. At 73.5 and 6 years in straws work for me and a handful of supplements and of course I am sure WWE both have other conditions to deal with.

Hi,
Agree 100%. My wife has said try going without the O2 (crickets…) What does help is eating very healthy, taking a basket of supplements, water, tiny exercise to condition the muscles as much as possible (I must be careful as when I do too much I pay for it with cramping later) and keep the weight off.
Oh did I forget to…[Read more]

Hi Wesley,
I take a hand full of supplements daily but an orthopedic surgeon friend says pills are for dying people food is for living people – an adaptation from Hippocrates: “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”.
With this lovely disease (starting 6 years ago) medicine is important but the supplements have helped me a…[Read more]

Steve Dragoo replied to the topic What is your experience with Curcumin? in the forum Living with Pulmonary Fibrosis: 50+ 5 months ago
Hi Natalie,
Since I am in the Philippines, we enjoy a hot or warm glass of calamansi juice strong with ginger, turmeric, honey, and a little olive oil to help absorption – about a teaspoon of each to taste.. Very refreshing way to start the day. Sadly when we will be in the USA it is difficult to find any calamansi so we will s…[Read more]

Martha,
You will find a lot of helpful tips on these forums. Many talk about different supplements and generally, I would recommend you first look at the various white papers regards supplements like EGCG, aspirin, and several more. I take a big handful of different supplements daily that do help and I try to monitor them c…[Read more]

Hi Martha,
After 6 years into IPF with other compromising factors at age 73, I am still able to do a lot just slower and shorter. Do all you can to stay even a tiny bit active throughout the day has helped the most. We also have some promising trials in stages 2 to 3. Initially, when I was diagnosed I was in mental shock and did n…[Read more]

Steve Dragoo replied to the topic Metformin Useage as Treatment for IPF in the forum Join the Discussion: Welcome to all PF/IPF Patients 6 months, 3 weeks ago
I started on Metformin over 10 years ago because of diabetes and can’t say if it has had any positive impact on my 6-year-old IPF. But if you insist on trying it be mindful of a low starting dose and initial side effects that do go away. I believe some pharmacies give metformin free (Walmart?) but not sure…

Thanks Kitty – I saw the same info but add that that dosage is for generally healthy people. As a 73 year old male with other compromising factors, I am taking 40 mg daily but about an hour after other supplements.

Steve Dragoo replied to the topic Zinc in the Role of Lung Fibrosis in the forum Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness & Advocacy 7 months, 1 week ago
I started taking it again after this article butttt –
Zinc is great when used properly not so when it is not. For example, don’t use a nasal spray and definitely pay attention to the maximum dosage of less than 40 mg daily for men; less for women. There are certain contraindications with other drugs too so please do your research. I hope zin…[Read more]

Steve Dragoo replied to the topic Has anyone tried Stem Cell therapy? in the forum Join the Discussion: Welcome to all PF/IPF Patients 7 months, 4 weeks ago
Hey John, I decided against stem cell in part because of this thread (and others I have talked to). Instead, I have been using serrapeptase 4.5 years and it knocked out most mucous in a few days and continues to work very well for me. Plus a handful 0f other supplements.
