Following a string of storms on the US eastern seaboard a few weeks back, many were left without power for a prolonged period of time. For a patient living with pulmonary fibrosis (PF) who is dependent on oxygen, losing power can be scary!
Some productive conversations ensued in our amazing forums community on how we can best prepare for power outages when requiring supplemental oxygen. As promised, I told a couple members I’d write a post about this (here it is @casey) and share the things I’ve been working on to proactively prepare for power outages. It sounds like many weren’t aware of the Emergency Preparedness program that might exist in your community for those with a chronic condition. Read more about that my latest column, Preparing for Power Outages as a Patient with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
