In early November I ended up sick with a viral infection and pneumonia. I remember feeling so awful and thinking that these were some of the worst symptoms I’d ever had from a respiratory infection. Fast forward to nearly two months later, I think I’m still dealing with some residual side effects from that infection.

My sinuses, ears, throat, and nasal cavity were significantly impacted by the viruses I had in November. While my sinuses seem to have cleared up, I continued to struggle with muffled hearing for weeks. I also just saw my doctor for a sudden onset of ear and throat pain for the last several days. I described feeling like I was swallowing something in my throat and that my airway was reduced. My doctor told me about something called “globus sensation” which describes what I am feeling, and she shared it can be caused by both acid reflux or ear inflammation following a bad virus or cold… Bingo! I’m now back on antibiotics to treat the ear infection and a prescription nasal spray to alleviate symptoms.

I’m also doing a lot of reading to see if there are any natural remedies to help get rid of this unpleasant sensation faster. I’m curious if any of our readers have ever experienced a Globus sensation. If you have, were you able to identify where it came from and do you have any tips on getting rid of it?

    Charlene.
