Prednisone was a wonder drug for me. My lung inflammation cleared up within months unfortunately the Prednisone caused my bone density to be Way below normal. Now taking a once a week drug to help with my bone density plus I am taking vitamin d 2000 iu each Day . Cheers

Incredible!! Predisone has made my lung disfunction basically clear up. Able to breath normal! No more hard coughing hacking phlegm etc. Just amazing. On 20 mgs each day. Need new function test blowing plus CT scan to see if the grey matter has cleared up or not. My oximeter reads 95 or higher. The only thing I am frustrated about is my pulmonologist should have put me on Prednisone months ago.

Since I wrote that last piece I have stayed on Prednisone at 20 mg per day. No side effects . Can breath normal. My oximeter reads 94 and above. No more major couphing or dry heaves or phlegm.

Need to get another lung function test and CT scan to see if the grey matter I have had gone down. All I know is predisone is a wonder drug for me!

Finally my pulmonologist put me on Prednisone! Incredible recovery for me. On my fourth week at 10 mg per day next five days. Then 5 mg the following week and then script is over. Then new testing . Should have been on Prednisone when I had my first CT scan showing grew matter. Nothing wrong with trying and if bad side effects then stop but based on what predisone can do for inflammation of the lungs I do not understand why predisone is not given early. Best regards

Hi. I have ILD. Grey matter on my lungs. Started may of 2020.

After all kinds of testing and finally needed oxygen in December of 2020.

I was on nortriptyline started in February of 2021 from my gastrolist and helped alot with my coughing and dry heaves and phlegm.

Then I went down hill again in the spring and this summer of 2021. I asked my pulmonologist about predisone and he said he was reluctant to put me on Prednisone. Huge mistake because finally he put me on Prednisone early August and it’s been a miracle drug for me ! My breathing is 100% better. No major couphing anymore . Not larthargic in the morning. Glad is working but furious that my pulmonologist did not put me on Prednisone months ago. Reckless in my eyes. Will get new ct scan in about a month to see if my grey matter scarring ( not permanent) has decreased. So maybe try predisone? Best regards

Just started my second week. First week 40 mg per day. This week 30 mg per day. Next week 20 mg per day etc.

Well this has been a wonder drug for me so far. Definitely helping with my lung disfunction inflammation. Coughing going down . Not much phlegm. Can breath better . When I do breath in hard I let out 2 quick coughs. Will be interesting if I get a bit better each week and then when my taking predisone is over in three weeks get tested CT scan etc and see if I can stay off predisone or continue.

Thanks for this information on you being on Prednisone. I just started this week. First five days will be 40 mg then following week to 30 mg for the second week. My coughing attacks in the morning are brutal with dry heaves and phlegm.

I just started on Prednisone . This was my second morning. 40 mg the first week. Down to 30 mg the second week.   I have ILD grey matter on my lungs. Not permanent scarring which is good. Terrible coughing attacks in the morning. And after eating.  Dry heaves. Just awful. I believe the predisone is helping. I read that you can get fat face. Gain weight.  And get short fused. Looking forward to getting answers. Thanks
