I have left my comments before about Wei products. I did the Soup A, Soup B and LC Enhancer for about 4 months (at outrageous prices) and never saw any difference in my condition. I’m on oxygen 24/7 and I think my lung condition is slightly worse. Now I’m using the AST Enzymes, but am not seeing any improvement there either. I do breathing exercises and take a large amount of supplements. I didn’t want to put up with all of the side effects of OFEV or Esbriet, so I’m not taking any drugs. At 90 I may have only a few years more with or without them. I’m willing to take my chances. I keep fairly active in the senior facility where I live and enjoy all the events that take place here.

I just put new batteries in my oximeter so I know it’s working as well as it can.  Sometimes I get a very low heart rate which startled me at first, but I’ve discovered that if I take the oximeter off and then try again, I get a more normal reading.

Strictly by accident.  We lived in the country in a log house with a wood burning furnace and though I used to cough all winter I just thought it was because of the wood smoke and never realized what it was doing to my lungs.  After we moved to the city I went one night to the ER with chest pains thinking it might be a heart attack.  Of course, they took X-rays and when my doctor saw a spot in the lung area she advised me to see a pulmonologist.  He diagnosed IPF.

I was diagnosed with IPF in August 2022.  I did not want to go on the suggested drug (OFEV) and preferred to try a more natural way to deal with it.  I just had my 90th birthday and figure that if I get 5 more years that will be okay.  For 4 months I tried some Chinese herbs (Wei Labs) which were outrageously expensive and didn’t seem to do anything.  Then I read about a study using AST Enzymes, (1 Serrapeptase & 3 Serracor-NK – 3 times a day) which seemed to help slow down and even reverse the growth of fibrin in the lungs).  I’ve been doing this program for 10 weeks now and am also on 2lm oxygen 24/7.  Can’t see a lot of difference, but at least, I don’t think I’m getting worse. I would like to hear from anyone else who has tried these products and the results.  My pulmonologist said to come back in 6 months, when I turned down the drugs.  I think, actually, that he thinks I’ll be dead by then. But I’m going to fool him.

I did 20 sessions of exercise at a pulmonary rehab clinic and then continued on with the same type of exercise machines in the senior facility where I live.  I try to get some exercise every day, though a hip bursitis laid me low for a while.  I’m very active within this community, but only go out on occasion.  I would like to join my family for a week in Mexico, but am hesitant about the difficulties in traveling by air, especially since I would need to make one transfer.  I have an Inogen portable unit with a double battery which gives me 8 to 9 hours.  I’d like to know about how others have handled traveling by air.

I have also been taking serrapeptase, along with Serracor-NK, 3 times a day which is hard to work into 3 meals a day, considering the restrictions. My bottles say “30 minutes before or 2 hours after a meal. I haven’t really noticed a difference, maybe a slight increase in my 02 levels. Have been taking them about 4 months. I take turmeric too, 2 capsules per day which contain 1200 mg (600 mg each) with black pepper extract. The pepper is supposed to increase absorption of the turmeric. It is not spicey. I also take a large amount of supplements which help keep my energy up.

Does anyone notice a change in their voice? Mine has gotten increasingly hoarse, especially in the morning, then clearing up some later in the day. At 90, I don’t know if this is due to a worsening of my IPF or just age.

I took the Wei products for at least 4 months and I don’t think any of them had the EGCG. They are very expensive, but I would have continued if I had seen any results.

I meant AST. If you do a search for AST Enzymes, you’ll get their website.

Every time I took it, it made me throw up.  I am now taking AST Enzymes which a study has shown to reduce fibrin production.  Don’t know if they do since I haven’t been back to my pulmonologist since I started them.  At least, I don’t have any side effect from them.  I certainly don’t need to lose any weight.  I’m trying to gain a few pounds.
