    I know it sounds gross.

I’ve been living with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) for over 8 years now, with relatively slow disease progression. That said, when I catch a viral or bacterial infection, the disease tends to progress a lot more rapidly. Never in these 8 years have I required a sputum test, which I have coming up in November. This testing can’t even be done in the city where I live, it’s taking place at a pulmonary center about 2 hours from here.

Has anyone else required this testing from their pulmonologist? If so, was it throughout the diagnostic phase or after you received a diagnosis of IPF?

Please share your thoughts, I’d love to hear from you!
