Post lung transplant and need of a hip replacement.
Has anyone had a hip replacement and if so, did the anti rejection meds cause problems with healing? I’m two years post single lung transplant. Due to my age and arthritis, I am in need of hip replacement. My lung is doing great, however, the pain of bone on bone in my hip prevents me from being physically active. I have seen an orthopedic surgeon who is willing to do hip replacement with clearance from my lung transplant doctor. My lung transplant doctor is agreeable, however the risk of infection is increased due to my compromised immune system because of the anti rejection meds. I’m tentatively scheduled for hip replacement surgery end of April 2024. Just wondering if anyone else that had a lung transplant and hip replacement surgery has any experience to share.
