Toronto General Hospital (TGH) is one of the leading and largest lung transplant centers in the world. They are a center of excellence, and home to many of the world’s first in lung transplantation – including the first successful single and double lung transplants in 1983, and 1986 respectively. Recently, the TGH lung transplant program has been focused on a study about transplanting positive hepatitis C positive lungs, and as another world first: have successfully transplanted these lungs until 10 patients safely.

Even compared to 10 years ago, many amazing research and transplant facilities, such as TGH, are making incredible strides in the area of lung and solid organ transplantation. For patients living with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), this gives us so much hope. We are so thankful to the talented, dedicated, intelligent and passionate people working on our behalf!
