With the US west coast fires raging right now, it seems timely to talk about the importance of respiratory health and protecting your lungs. Yesterday, I heard that the smoke from Washington, California and Oregon has made its way across the US and are reaching some eastern states. This likely means that many of us on the forums might be experiencing poor air quality, and for those with already-compromised lungs, that can feel scary.

Please reach out if you’re feeling anxious during these times, and know that your concerns are likely shared by other patients. We’re in this together.

Amid these difficult times, knowledge is power and sharing credible sources of information is important. As a result, I wanted to share some previously published articles from Pulmonary Fibrosis News around protecting your lungs as a patient living with IPF/PF, along with a few other sources:

6 Tips for Protecting Your Lungs

8 Tips for Protecting Your Lungs Against Unhealthy Air

5 Household Tips to Maintain Better Respiratory Health

In addition to these article suggestions: do you have any other tips  to add as a way of protecting your lungs?
